Review
Timershot is one of several so called “PowerToys” for Windows XP, available at the download section of the Microsoft Corporation Web site. These PowerToys are little applications that add a special feature to the operating system.
In the particular case of Timershot, its purpose is to take pictures using the web cam installed in the system at specified time intervals. The uses that can be given to this tool are multiple, depending on the specific users.
The application itself is extremely easy-to-use with a single window interface. This window can be expanded or shrinked. In the compact version it shows a preview image, a drop-down list of devices, the name of the last picture saved, and two buttons: one for taking an image, the other to open a dialog showing the list of pictures taken.
The expanded window shows additional configurable options. Among them you will find: time interval to take the pictures, options for resizing, file location and naming options, among others.
Timershot, once is open, behaves as a resident application available at the system tray. From there you can open a contextual menu with three options: open the application, show last picture, and exit. |
- It's free.
- It's developed by Microsoft so it's supposed to work fine on Windows.
- It's lightweight and easy-to-use.
|
- It may not detect some web cams, and it doesn't include tools to fix that.
